For those of you who are organized-- maybe you have yourself an Erin Condren planner or a cute little desk planner-- but I want to share with you a new kind of planning. Maybe one that's even more loyal and guaranteed to organize your life better than a typical paper planner could. And if you are not organized and not well at keeping a planner, then I'm about to change your life forever. It changed my boyfriend's, a.k.a one of the most unorganized people I know. 😉

When my boyfriend and I go to Target, or really any store, I'll be right behind him until I sneak away and head to the office supplies and planner aisle. I look through planners that catch my eye knowing I have only about 5 minutes before I hear him say

"You don't need another planner"

and the next thing you know, Jaden is tugging me out of the planner aisle (we definitely keep each other in check). If I told you I bought 5 planners just this past year, you'd say I'm crazy. I'd show proof by inserting five pictures of my five different planners, but I know I'm already going to be scolded by my mother after she reads this (sorry mom)!

I still love the idea of the old-fashioned, sitting down to plan the upcoming week by physically writing in a planner. But I can't say that I have finished an entire planner before. Usually come Christmas Break time, I forget about it. Or, the same thing happens after summer-- I forget that I put it on the shelf in my closet that I've coined 'the forgotten'. Google Calendar has always been there to rescue me the day I come back from Christmas Break or Summer, when I realize I have forgotten about that physical planner I once purchased. Google Calendar has rescued me countless times, that now it's just become my go-to planning system! It's never been more easy to navigate through events and appointments until I started using this online calendar-- and did I mention it's also an App?

Here Are My Top 5 Reasons Why Google Calendar Beats The Traditional Paper Planner!

1. ABILITY TO CREATE MULTIPLE CALENDARS

Unlike your everyday paper planner, you could never run out of room when using Google Calendar. Club meeting after school, right before cheer practice, and then youth group-- all on Wednesday? Google Calendar makes it so easy to create multiple calendars for all of your commitments.

2. COLOR COORDINATION

One of the things I love about Google Calendar, is how easy it is to color code my events! As a student, using Google Calendar to color code my classes, assignments, and any quiz/test really helped me to stay on top of things. Color coding is like the cherry on top. It's just one more way to enhance your organization system. Check out the example calendar below!

3. CALENDAR SHARING

Google Calendar also makes it possible to share calendars with other Google users! This has helped Jaden and I to share each other's calendars when it comes to planning fun date nights and knowing what both of us have going on for the week ahead!

4. MULTIPLE CALENDAR VIEWS

For the most part, not too many paper planners I have seen have had all three: Daily, Weekly, and Monthly views. But Google Calendar offers you the choice to see your calendar in all three views, and more. On a computer, all you have to do is key the letters D for daily view, W for weekly view, M for monthly view, and even A for a schedule view. It's so easy to switch back and forth between all these calendar views.

When sharing calendars and in the Daily view, you will be able to see side-by-side, what the two of y'all have planned for that day!

5. IT'S PERFECT FOR PERFECTIONISTS

Anyone that knows me and knows me well, will tell you that I am a perfectionist. It's nothing to brag about, believe me (I don't even like having my paper's bent). In my days using a paper planner, I have learned that there's not enough handy dandy White-Out in the world, which really leads me to question just how handy-dandy White-Out is in the first place! Paper planning soon becomes how cute and how neat can I make this look, which completely goes against what planning is intended for in the first place-- functionality! With Google Calendar, when events get postponed or cancelled, or if I misplace an event, it's so easy to remove or edit the date and time of an event without leaving any scratched out lines or a heap of stickers clearly indicating that you messed up underneath (I've been there and have done it all)!

6. IT'S FREE-- I HAD TO ADD THIS ONE IN THERE!

I know I said 5 reasons why Google Calendar beats the old-fashioned planner, but I had to include the best reason out of all reasons. Google Calendar is completely and totally FREE!!! Google Calendar marks the end of spending more than $50 on an Erin Condren planner (which I have yet to own) or even $10 on a BlueSky planner, and the beginning to a more functional planning system!
